BASEBALL: Chaps sweep Westerners
The Midland College baseball team completed a four-game series sweep of Western Texas College with 11-6 and 16-10 victories on Saturday.

SNYDER, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team completed a four-game series sweep of Western Texas College with 11-6 and 16-10 victories on Saturday.
In the first game, Ryan Blackwell drove in five runs and was 2-for-5 with a double, home run and two runs scored for the Chaparrals (17-7, 7-1 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference); Caleb Heuertz was 3-for-4 with a home run, RBI and three runs scored; Adam Love was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored; Chris Garcia was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored; and Tyler Wulfert added two RBI.
Bo Blessie got the win after he allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits, five walks, to go with eight strikeouts.
Heuertz drove in five runs in the second game and was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a walk and two runs scored; Jarek Wells was 2-for-5 with a home run, walk, two RBI and three runs scored; Wulfert was 2-for-3 with three walks and four runs scored.
Western Texas (10-15, 0-4) belted four home runs in the game.
Luke Young got the win for MC, which returns to Christensen Stadium at 6 p.m. Tuesday to play Howard College in a non-conference game.
