SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Alvin Community College by winning both games of a doubleheader played at U.T.-San Antonio on Sunday.
The Chaparrals held on for a 9-8 victory over the Dolphins in the first game and then came from behind to win 8-7 in the series finale.
MC (3-0) gave up a 5-2 lead in Sunday's second game as Alvin scored five unanswered runs to take a 7-5 lead in the top of eighth inning.
But in the bottom of the eighth, Tyler Wulfert pulled MC to within 7-6 on an RBI single. Then with two outs, the Alvin right fielder committed an error off a hit by Hudson Parker to allow Wulfert and then Caleb Heuertz to score in walk-off fashion.
Parker finished the game going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Wulfert also drove in two runs, while Frayner Chavez was 2-for-3 with a triple.
Aaron Molina picked up the win in relief.
In the first game, the Chaps had nine hits and Garrett Williams and Parker each had two hits, while Luke Bumpus and Heuertz each had two RBI. Bumpus also had a home run.
Derek Klosowski got the win for MC on the mound.
The Chaps next host Wayland Baptist University in a doubleheader beginning a 1 p.m. Friday.
