BASEBALL: Chaps split at Ranger; Drop two to #1 McLennan
On Saturday, the Midland College baseball team split a doubleheader at Ranger College on Saturday, winning 4-3 in the first game before falling 5-2 in the second game. On Friday, the team dropped a pair of games to No. 1-ranked McLennan Community College on Friday as the Highlanders used a pair of big innings.

RANGER, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team split a doubleheader at Ranger College on Saturday, winning 4-3 in the first game before falling 5-2 in the second game.
The Chaparrals (6-3) overcame three errors and being out-hit 8-5 to get the win in the first game.
Garrett Williams had a triple and three RBI to lead the MC offense.
Luis Rodriguez got the win on the mound after he allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits, three walks and he struck out three over 6 2/3 innings. Caleb Heuertz earned the save after he got the last batter to ground out.
The Chaps were held to six hits in the second game while Ranger had a pair of two-run innings.
No Chap had multiple hits but Luke Bumpus had a double.
Michael Lindsey got a no decision for MC after he allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Alizaeh Gutierrez took the loss in relief.
MC next hosts Vernon College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Friday at Christensen Stadium.

RANGER, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team dropped a pair of games to No. 1-ranked McLennan Community College on Friday as the Highlanders used a pair of big innings.
McLennan defeated the Chaps 8-3 in the first game, then won 13-5 in the second game.
In the first game, McLennan scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Chaparrals (5-2) and erase and 3-1 deficit. The Highlanders had seven hits in the inning, including a two-run homer and a pair of triples.
Jarek Wells took the loss in relief.
MC was held to four hits in the game by MCC pitching.
In the second game, McLennan had a 10-run eighth inning to beat the Chaps.
Garrett Williams, Ryan Blackwell and Frayner Chavez each had two hits for the Chaps. Blackwell and Chavez also had doubles.
Hudson Parker took the loss for MC.
The Chaps next play a doubleheader against Ranger College beginning at noon Saturday.
