MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team swept Vernon College in a doubleheader at Christensen Stadium on Friday with 3-2 and 14-12 victories.
Gibrian Pena had a three-run double to center field with no outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Chaparrals the walk-off victory in the first game.
Both teams were held to four hits as Garrett Williams led the Chaps by going 2-for-3. Tyler Wulfert added a double.
Luke Young got the win as he allowed just two runs on four hits, with no walks and eight strikeouts over seven innings.
Vernon out-hit MC 15-9 in the second game but committed eight errors. MC also had a five-run first and four-run seventh in the nine-inning game.
Williams led the Chaps by going 2-for-5 with a walk, three RBI and two runs scored. Luke Bumpus had a grand slam in the first inning and also drew a walk; Frayner Chavez was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored; and Wulfert homered, walked twice and scored three runs.
Aaron Molina picked up the win the relief after throwing 2 2/3 shutout innings with four strikeouts.
The Chaps (8-3) next host Seward County Community College in a doubleheader beginning at noon Saturday.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team swept Seward County Community College in a doubleheader at Christensen Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Garrett Williams hit a grand slam to lead MC to a 15-3 run-rule win in the five-inning first game, while MC pitching was stellar in an 8-0 victory in the second game.
Williams was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and his four RBI to go with his slam in the first game. Tyler Wulfert was 2-for-2 with a double, home run, two walks, three RBI and three runs scored; Matthew Sandoval was 2-for-2 with a double, triple, walk, two RBI and three runs scored; Hudson Parker had two doubles and an RBI; and Caleb Heuertz had a double and drove in two runs.
Luis Rodriguez earned the win as he allowed three runs on seven hits with four walks and two strikeouts over five innings.
The Chaps (10-3) out-hit the Saints 13-3 in the second game that went seven innings.
Michael Lindsey got the win as he allowed three hits, walked one and struck out 10 over six innings. Sandoval finished the game and added two strikeouts in his shutout inning.
At the plate, Heuertz led MC by going 3-for-3 with a walk, RBI and three runs scored. Landon Pyles was 2-for-3 with a triple, walk and two runs scored; Luke Bumpus homered and drove in three runs; while Frayner Chavez also hit a homer and drove in two runs.
MC next takes on North Central Texas College in a doubleheader at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
