BASEBALL: Chaps fall to Howard in non-conference game
The Midland College baseball team out-hit Howard College but fell to the Hawks in a non-conference game, 11-5, at Christensen Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team out-hit Howard College but fell to the Hawks in a non-conference game, 11-5, at Christensen Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chaparrals (23-14) out-hit Howard (13-19) 13-10 but the Hawks scored three runs in each of the fourth, fifth and ninth innings.
Rhett Clark led MC by going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Frayner Chavez was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Aaron Manias and Austin Douglas homered for the Hawks, while Nicholas Thibodeau was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI.
MC pitcher Michael Lindsey saw his first action in a few weeks because of a finger injury and threw two shutout innings without a hit, in a no decision.
Tate Van Poppel took the loss in relief.
Karson Shephered picked up the win for Howard.
MC next hosts Clarendon College in a Western Junior College Athletic Conference series beginning with a doubleheader at noon Friday at Christensen Stadium.
