MIDLAND, TEXAS - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), VisitMidland and Midland College are proud to announce the 2022 NJCAA Region 5 Baseball Tournament will be held at Christensen Stadium, Midland, TX. May 13-16/17, 2022
NJCAA Region 5 is comprised of 21-member two-years colleges, which includes nine (9) teams from the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) and nine (9) teams from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC).
The Region 5 Baseball Tournament brings together the top four teams from the NTJCAC and the top four teams from the WJCAC in an eight team, double-elimination tournament. The winner of the Region 5 Baseball Tournament will secure a place in the 2022 NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Grand Junction, CO (May 28-June 3/4, 2022).
Each year eight top Texas and New Mexico Junior College teams participate in this event which is expected to be of interest to college baseball fans across the Permian Basin. Players from the eight colleges are considered to be some of the top NCAA D-I prospects in the nation, including several who are 2022 MLB Draft prospects! In the past this event has been held in Lubbock (Texas Tech), Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, San Angelo (Angelo State) but this year it's coming to Midland!
Major League Baseball scouts as well as university coaches will be in attendance to identify prospects for their respective teams.
Day-pass tickets, and tournament-pass tickets will be available at the gate. All youth baseball and softball players under the age of 12 are admitted (free of charge) if wearing their team uniform!
