BASEBALL: MC Chaps Host OC Wranglers in a WJCAC Series

MIDLAND, TEXAS - Due to expected high wind gusts (45-50 MPH) on Friday, March 24^th the Odessa College @ Midland College baseball double-header will be moved to Saturday, March 25^th @ noon (Christensen Stadium). 

The move will also force Saturday's games in Odessa to move to Sunday at noon.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College baseball team will again be in action in a four-game WJCAC series versus the Odessa College Wranglers.  Midland will host Odessa on Friday in a noon double-header at Christensen Stadium.  Games three and four of the series will be played at American Legion Field in Odessa. 

The Chaps, 19-4 on the season and 5-3 in the WJCAC, split last weekend's four game conference series at Roswell, NM versus the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos.  The Chaparrals lost the first games of both days (13-4, 12-11) and won the second game of each double-header by scores of 13-0 and 14-7.  In the series with NMMI the Chaps surrendered 32 runs while scoring 42.  The Chaparrals will need to find stability in the pitching rotation in order to find success versus the Wranglers.  The OC Wranglers will enter the weekend with a 14-11 season record, including 4-4 in conference. 

Midland College is among the NJCAA's best in several team statistical categories:  8^th in doubles (69), 10^th in homeruns (36), 8^th in extra base hits (114), 4^th in batting average (.371), 6^th in on base percentage (.480), 3^rd in slugging percentage (.665) and 2^nd in shutouts (7).

MC hurlers Tyler Boudreau, Alizaeh Gutierrez and Evan Hebert are expected to start games for the Chaparrals versus the Wranglers.  Boudreau is currently 5-1 this season while Gutierrez and Herbert are 5-0 and 4-0 respectively for the Chaps.
