The MC Chaps baseball team will play one additional "tune-up" game, on Tuesday, March 5th versus Western Texas College, prior to jumping into the WJCAC race on Friday. Midland College will play WTC in a single, nine-innning game at Christensen Stadium. The game versus the Westerners will count as a regular season game but does not count in the 2024 conference standings. Midland College, currently 11-5 this season, was the WJCAC coach's pick to win the conference title this year.
Midland College coach Hector Rodriguez knows very well the team's pitching performances will determine this season's success in conference and possibly into the post-season. The Chaps have relied on sophomores Tyler Boudreau and Daniel Bass to be the leaders on the pitching staff. Holt Gibson and Carson Laws have given the Chaps reason for optimism headed into the WJCAC wars.
On Friday, March 8th the Chaps will open the WJCAC slate of games versus Odessa College. Friday's conference double-header will be played at Christensen Stadium. Saturday the action moves to Odessa for two games at Wrangler Field.
