Chaparral Baseball Splits WJCAC Opening Series Versus Odessa College
The MC Chaps recorded two wins at Christensen Stadium and suffered two losses in Odessa to go 2-2 in the WJCAC Opening Series

The Midland College Chaps baseball team displayed their offensive potential in a pre-conference game against Western Texas College, however the Chaps bats didn't carry over to the weekend, winning two close games on Friday in Midland, scores of 5-2 and 5-4, and taking two losses on the chin at Odessa (12-2 and 10-9) on Saturday. Midland College currently stands at 14-7 overall and 2-2 to start the WJCAC slate of games.
On Friday MC's standout pitcher, Tyler Boudreau, picked up the win in game one with freshman Holt Gibson getting the game two win with fellow freshman Jacob Kuhn recording the save. On Saturday the Chaparrals struggled at the plate, recording only two runs on six hits in the first game. OC recorded the run-rule win, 12-2 in six innings.
Saturday's second game was a back and forth affair with the Wranglers leading 8-6 after six innings. MC scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at eight runs. Each team scores a single run in the eighth inning to knot the game at 9-9. Neither team could score in the ninth inning forcing the game into extra innings. Midland failed to score in the top of the 10th inning, creating a game winning opportunity for the Wranglers. Odessa College picked up the run they needed in the bottom of the 10th inning to steal win 10-9.
The Chaps return to the diamond on March 15-16 when they host El Paso Community College for a four-game, conference series at Christensen Stadium in Midland.
