The Midland College baseball moved up in the NJCAA Division I baseball national rankings and improved to an impressive 34-4, including 18-2 in the WJCAC. The Chaparrals, #5 in the nation, extended their current win streak to 17 consecutive conference wins.
The Chaparrals outscored the Badgers 44-20 in the four-game series with scores of 8-7, 16-4 (7 innings), 6-3 and 14-6 after a postponing the series to Sunday and Monday in Amarillo due to a drop in temperatures that created cold and snowy conditions in the Texas panhandle.
MC received strong offensive performances from Jorge Gil, Colin Fisher, Dylon Myrow, Caleb Boswell, Luke Wheatley and Josh Wulfert. Keller Lindeman, Jason Berglund, Augden Hallmark and Ryan Marton each recorded wins on the mound for the Chaps.
Midland College head coach, Hector Rodriguez, recorded his 300th career coaching victory in Midland College's 8-7, game one win versus the Badgers.
The Chaps' next games are scheduled for Friday, April 11th in Big Spring versus the Howard College Hawks and on Saturday, April 12th at Christensen Stadium, also versus Howard College. Double-headers both days are scheduled for a noon first pitch
Saturday's games are designated as Little League Appreciation Day at the Ballpark as MC play host to the Chaps of the future! There will be shirt giveaways for the first 50 little leaguers who come out wearing their team uniform. The MC baseball team will be wearing commemorative jerseys and ballcaps as they take on the Howard Hawks.
