In Tuesday afternoon's game at the JUCO World Series the Midland College Chaparrals appeared to be clicking on all cylinders when they took on highly-touted Walters State College (TN). The Chaps faced the Senators in and elimination game (the third for MC) at 2:00 p.m. under a partly cloudy sky in Grand Junction. Midland College, in what could be their most complete team victory of the tournament, pounded WSCC for 11 total hits led by Bammer Maes, Caleb Eagar and Stevyn Andrachick. The WSCC Senators recorded seven total hits in the 15-4 loss to the Chaps.
Freshman catcher Eagar smacked two home runs in the game while posting four RBI to pace the Chaparrals. Maes, a freshman DH from McKinnney, went 3-4 with two RBI while sophomore second baseman Andrachick recorded a 2-5 day including one RBI. Freshman outfielder Cole Neatherlin added a two-run homer in the eighth to add to the Midland College scoring summary.
MC redshirt freshman pitcher Logan Reid started the game for the Chaparrals and was impressive in his 12th appearance, but his first start of the season. Aurora (CO) native Reid went five complete innings, scattering seven hits and striking out seven Walters State Senators. Carson Haffner came in relief of Reid and held WSCC hitless in his three innings on the mound. Haffner also struck out two hitters.
