MESA, ARIZONA - The Midland College men's basketball team lost its first two games at the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout.
The Chaparrals (9-5) lost to host Mesa Community College, 64-61, in overtime on Monday night, and then lost to South Plains College, 58-38, in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
In the game against Mesa, the teams were tied at 54-all at the end of regulation before Mesa outscored MC, 10-7, in overtime.
Steven Richardson led MC with 13 points, Oliver Hayward had 11, and Trent Johnson added 10.
South Plains (5-6) led 29-19 at the half and held MC to 26% shooting for the game.
Christian Villegas and Franklin Agu each had nine points to lead the Chaps, while Hayward added 8.
