BASKETBALL: Chaps beat NMMI to snap 5-game skid
The Midland College men’s basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak on Thursday when it closed out the home schedule with a 66-62 victory over New Mexico Military Institute at Chaparral Center.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College men's basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak on Thursday when it closed out the home schedule with a 66-62 victory over New Mexico Military Institute at Chaparral Center.
NMMI (16-12, 8-7 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) led 31-29 at the half before the Chaps (12-16, 5-10) rallied in the second half behind 47.8% shooting, while holding the Broncos to 34.5% shooting.
Oliver Hayward led MC with 18 points, Christian Villegas had 16, Trent Johnson had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Steven Richardson added 14 points.
Latik Murphy and Isaiah Williams each had 20 points for the Broncos.
The Chaps will close out the season with a game at South Plains College at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24.
