LEVELLAND, TEXAS - Kieves Turner scored 50 points to lead South Plains College to a 94-62 blowout win over Midland College at the Texan Dome on Thursday night.
Turner was 16 of 22 from the floor, 13 of 19 from 3-point range and was 5 for 5 from the free-throw line in his single-game school-record performance. The 13 made 3-pointers by the Bucknell transfer also set a single-game school record.
South Plains (17-11, 11-5 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) led 44-23 at the half and the Texans finished shooting 50.7% from the floor.
Savion Gallion added 12 points and Jaylin Reed had 10 for the Texans, who are the No. 2 seed in next week's Region V Tournament in Wolfforth.
The Chaparrals were led by Jaden Henderson and Trent Johnson with 19 points each, while Steven Richardson added 13. Christian Villegas chopped in with 10 rebounds.
MC finished the season 12-17 overall and 5-11 in the WJCAC as part of a three-way tie for sixth place.
