GOLF: #2 Ranked MC Chaparrals Entered in NCAA DI Bentwater Intercollegiate

MIDLAND, TEXAS - After winning three tournament championships to start the 2021 school year, the Midland College Chaps travel to Montgomery, Texas this weekend for the Bentwater Intercollegiate.  Aside from the NJCAA National Preview Tournament scheduled for early November, this will arguably be the stiffest competition faced by the team in the fall semester of competition.  

Midland College, ranked second nationally among NJCAA DI Men's team, enters the event as the only two-year college team along with NCAA Division I entrants Houston Baptist University, Nicholls State (LA), Prairie View A&M University, Rice University, two teams from the host university Sam Houston State, South Dakota State University, two teams from Texas State University, several individuals from the University of Houston, the University of South Alabama, the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley, the University of Texas - San Antonio and Wichita State University.  

The Chaparrals are off to a spectacular start with wins at the Andrews Collegiate-Amateur, the McLennan CC Highlander Invitational and most recently at the High Country College Shootout in Ruidoso, NM. 

This weekend's event promises to test the collective wills and composure of Coach Williams' talented squad.  MC entered one, five-man team to Montgomery composed of returning All-NJCAA selection Samual McKenzie along with newcomers Gregor Graham and Alfie Robinson.  Tournament-tested sophomores Adam Coull and Aston Castillo round out the unit for coach Walt Williams.  

The 54-hole Bentwater Invitational will be played at the Bentwater Country Club (Par 72, 6992 Yards) in Montgomery, Texas with 18 holes of play each day beginning on October 11th.
