GOLF: #2 MC Chaps Versus #3 McLennan at Squaw Creek Match Play
Coach Walt Williams and the NJCAA ranked #2 Midland College golf team will play in its second “match play” event of the fall semester when they travel to Willow Park, Texas for the Squaw Creek Tournament. The Squaw Creek Match Play will pit the #2 ranked Chaparrals in a head-to-head competition versus the #3 ranked McLennan Community College Highlanders.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - Coach Walt Williams and the NJCAA ranked #2 Midland College golf team will play in its second "match play" event of the fall semester when they travel to Willow Park, Texas for the Squaw Creek Tournament. The Squaw Creek Match Play will pit the #2 ranked Chaparrals in a head-to-head competition versus the #3 ranked McLennan Community College Highlanders. Both teams will play all 12 of its team members in the 18 hole, one day tournament.
The Chaparrals and Highlanders are well-acquainted with one another having competed in several events this semester, including the McLennan Highlander Invitational which was played in Waco, Texas on September 20th and 21st.
Midland College won the Invitational by 23-strokes over McLennan with the Chap golfer Gregor Graham winning individual medalist honors by six-strokes over second place Evan Myers of Texas A&M University and Zach Heffernan of Baylor University. Graham shot a 54-hole score of 208 (-8) in Waco. Fellow MC freshman, Alfie Robinson, finished in a tie for fourth place posting a one-under par score of 215 in the tournament. In fact, Midland College linksters held five of the top 15 individual scores in the tournament.
Midland College will conclude the fall semester tournament schedule on November 4-5 at the 2021 NJCAA Men's Division I National Preview Tournament to be held at the Odessa Country Club in Odessa, Texas. Odessa Country Club will host the 2022 NJCAA Men's Division I Golf Championship Tournament in May of 2022.
As many as 12 of the top 20 NJCAA men's golf teams will be in the National Preview Tournament field including the host team, #4 ranked Odessa College, #3 McLennan Community College, #11 New Mexico Junior College, #12 Western Texas College, #14 Ranger College and #2 Midland College each from NJCAA Region 5.
#1 Hutchinson CC (KS), the defending national champions, #5 Iowa Western Community College, #7 Indian Hills Community College (IA), #8 Central Alabama Community College and #10 Dodge City Community College (KS) are each expected to be in contention for the title.
