EL PASO, TEXAS - The No. 1-ranked Midland College golf team has a seven-shot lead after the first round of the The Cactus Claw hosted by Western New Mexico University.
The Chaparrals shot a 283, while second-place New Mexico Junior College and host WNMU each shot a 290 on Monday at Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course.
MC's Angel Guerra is tied with Sangha Park, of Odessa College, at the top of the medalist standings as they both shot a 4-under par 68.
Fellow Chaps Gregor Graham and Samual McKenzie are tied for seventh after shooting 1-under 71.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the final round.
