GOLF: Chaps finish 8th in D-1 tourney
The Midland College men’s golf team jumped three spots to finish eighth in the Colin Montgomerie HBU Husky Invitational at Augusta Pines Golf Club on Tuesday, against a field consisting of NCAA Division I programs.

SPRING, TEXAS - The Midland College men's golf team jumped three spots to finish eighth in the Colin Montgomerie HBU Husky Invitational at Augusta Pines Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Chaparrals, who are the No. 1-ranked team in the NJCAA Division I poll, shot a 289 in the final round and finished with a 910 total against a field consisting of NCAA Division I programs.
Southeastern Louisiana won the event with an 868 total, Gonzaga was second with an 886, and Incarnate Word was third with an 886.
The Chaps were led by Angel Guerra, who finished in a tie for 16th individually with a 224 total. Sophomore JT Pittman had the best round of the day for MC with a 1-under par 71 to finish with a three-round total of 227.
MC next hosts the TankLogix Invitational at Green Tree Country Club on March 15.
