GOLF: Chaps Tied for Third in the Big Texan Invitational After 36 Holes

KERRVILLE, TEXAS - After the first day of play in the 2022 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley - Big Texan Invitational Tournament, the Midland College Chaparrals sit in a three-way tie for third place along with Seton Hall University and the University of Northern Colorado; each NCAA Division I programs.   The tournament is being played at the Comanche Trace – Valley and the Hills Course in Kerrville, Texas and hosted by the University of Texas – RGV has a field of 11 NCAA Division I Universities and two NJCAA colleges, Odessa College and Midland College. 

The Chaps, Seton Hall University and the University of Northern Colorado each trail first place University of New Orleans by four strokes after 36 holes.  Currently in second place is Southeastern Louisiana University.  Southeastern Louisiana is one stroke behind the University of New Orleans and three strokes ahead of MC, Seton Hall and Northern Colorado. 

Coach Walt Williams' MC squad is comprised of Samual McKenzie, Adam Coull, Angel Guerra, Gregor Graham and JT Pittman.  McKenzie's 73-67—140 (-4) and Coull's 72-69—141 (-3) rank them T-4^th and 7^th in the individual medalist race.  The Big Texan Invitational concludes with a single round on Tuesday, March 22^nd.
