GOLF: No. 1 Chaps win Southwest Championship tourney
The No. 1-ranked Midland College men’s golf team captured the Southwest Junior College Championship at Squaw Creek Golf Course on Tuesday.

WILLOW PARK, TEXAS - The No. 1-ranked Midland College men's golf team captured the Southwest Junior College Championship at Squaw Creek Golf Course on Tuesday.
The Chaparrals pulled away from New Mexico Junior College and finished eight strokes ahead with a 287-285-279—851 total. Both teams were tied after the first 36 holes on Monday. The 279 by the Chaps was the best round of the day on Tuesday. McLennan Community College was third with an 864 total, while Odessa College was fourth with an 875.
Leading the Chaps were sophomores Samual McKenzie and JT Pittman, who tied for second in the individual standings with 211 totals. NMJC's Matthis Lefevre won the medalist title with a 206 total.
The Chaps next play in the NJCAA Region V/District 2 Championship in Brownwood beginning on April 25.
