GOLF: Chaps secure WJCAC title
The No. 1-ranked Midland College golf team finished 15 strokes ahead of Odessa College for the Western Junior College Athletic Conference championship.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The No. 1-ranked Midland College golf team finished 15 strokes ahead of Odessa College for the Western Junior College Athletic Conference championship.
The Chaparrals finished with a 126-hole total of 1,927, while Odessa College finished at 1,943. New Mexico Junior College was third with a 1,957, while Western Texas College was fourth with a 1,995.
The WJCAC title is determined with the 36 holes from the WJCAC Tournament, the 54 holes from the Southwest Junior College Championship Tournament and the 36 holes at the District 2 Championship.
Sophomore JT Pittman and fellow sophomore teammate Samual McKenzie finished tied for third individually with 484 totals, sophomore Angel Guerra was seventh with a 491 and sophomore Adam Coull was eighth with a 495. The top 10 finishers earn All-WJCAC honors.
NMJC's Matthis Lefevre was the WJCAC medalist with a 479, while OC's Max Cooper was the runner-up with a 480.
The Chaps next compete in the NJCAA National Tournament to be held May 10-13 at Odessa Country Club.
