Midland College has 13 athletes sign with four-year programs
Seven golfers highlighted more than a dozen Midland College student-athletes who were recognized for signing with four-year programs on Wednesday afternoon on the MC campus.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - Seven golfers highlighted more than a dozen Midland College student-athletes who were recognized for signing with four-year programs on Wednesday afternoon on the MC campus.
Samual McKenzie (Sam Houston State), JT Pittman (Wichita State), Aston Castillo (Wichita State), Adam Coull (University of Memphis), Angel Guerra (Incarnate Word), Bladen Samaniego (Tarleton State University) and Seth Campbell (University of Texas-Tyler) are part of the No. 1-ranked Chaparral golf team and are moving on to the next level.
The volleyball team had four players sign in Romina Vacca (University of Maryland – Eastern Shore), Macarena Flores (University of Illinois-Springfield), Tori Lasley (Savannah State University) and Lucie Maceckova (MidAmerica Nazarene University).
Women's basketball player Dana Thompson is heading to Arkansas Tech University, while softball's Emily Maddux signed last December with Western New Mexico University but was recognized with the other athletes.

McKenzie, Pittman, Coull, Guerra, Samaniego and Castillo will make up the team that will be competing in next week's NJCAA National Tournament in Odessa College.
McKenzie, from Johannesburg, South Africa, is ranked as the fourth best golfer in NJCAA Division I by Golfstat with an adjusted scoring average of 71.05 and is 14-4 against Top 25 golfers faced this year.
Pittman, from Monahans, returned to MC at the start of this spring semester after spending the fall at UNLV. He is ranked No. 6 in the nation by Golfstat with adjusted scoring average of 71.97 and is 12-5 facing top 25 golfers this year.
Coull, from Sydney, Australia, is ranked No. 10 by Golfstat with an average of 72.36 and is 11-7 against Top 25 golfers this year.
Samaniego, who is from Lubbock, is ranked No. 25 by Golfstat with an average of 72.63.
Castillo, who is also from Lubbock, will continue to be Pittman's teammate at Wichita State, and he is ranked No. 28 by Golfstat with a 73.07 scoring average.
Campbell is from Lovelady, Texas, and he had an adjusted scoring average of 74.63.

The MC volleyball team went 17-8 and finished second in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with a 9-3 mark.
Vacca, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, was the Lady Chaps' steady setter, who finished averaging 5.16 assists and 1.72 digs per set.
Flores, from Santiago, Chile, was a middle hitter and averaged 1.67 kills per set, had a .338 attack percentage and 57 total blocks.
Outside hitter Maceckova and Prague, Czech Republic, native is heading to Olathe, Kansas, to continue her college career after two stellar seasons at MC. Last season she averaged 2.47 kills per set, had an attack percentage of 2.30 and had 31 total blocks.
Rightside hitter Lasley, from Tama, Iowa, is heading east to Georgia to continue her career. This past season she averaged 0.93 kills per set, had a .313 attack percentage and had six total blocks.

Thonpson, who is from Miami, was a key player for the Lady Chaps the last two years. This past season, she helped MC go 21-7 overall, finish second in the WJCAC with an 11-3 record and be ranked in the Top 20 for most of the season.

Maddux, who is from Douglas, Arizona, has been the ace of the MC pitching staff this season. She has started 20 games this season and has gone 17-5 with 3.35 ERA with 11 complete games and 163 strikeouts for the 30-15-1 Lady Chaps.
Maddux and MC will play WJCAC rival Odessa College in a home-and-home series beginning with a 1 p.m. Friday doubleheader at Lady Chaps Field.
