GOLF: Three Chaps recognized as All-America Scholars
Three former members of the Midland College golf team have been recognized as Srixon/Cleveland Golf America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced recently.

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA - Three former members of the Midland College golf team have been recognized as Srixon/Cleveland Golf America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced recently.
Aston Castillo, Samual McKenzie and Bladen Samaniego were among 17 NJCAA golfers who received the honor.
To be eligible, they must be receiving their Associate's degree in their last year of NJCAA eligibility, they must have participated in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NJCAA Division I and maintain a cumulative career grade-point-average of 3.2.
The recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college.
The three Midland College golfers helped the Chaparrals finish third in the NJCAA National Tournament in May.

All three have also signed with four-year universities as Castillo is heading to Wichita State University, McKenzie is going to Sam Houston State, and Samaniego will be playing at Tarleton State University in the fall.
