MC Golf Finishes Strong in NCAA DI Grier Jones Shocker Invitational
The Chaparrals recorded the low round score over the final 18 holes to finish in a tie for 5th place

Midland College coach Walt Williams is always looking for an opportunity to test his team. On an MC team that is loaded with freshman talent, Williams and the upstart Chaparrals, entered the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational hosted by Wichita State University. The tournament was played at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, KS, site of the 2025 NJCAA Men's Division I Golf Championships.
The Midland College team was comprised of freshmen Scott Spark (Scotland), Harrison Sewell (England), Reuben Harvey (England) and sophomores Bryce Womack (San Antonio, TX) and Benjamin Lund-Ravn (Denmark). MC finished in a T-5th along with the University of Denver (NCAA DI) with scores of 301-287-282--870 (+6).
In additional to the tournament host, Wichita State University, a total of nine NCAA Division I University teams along with four NJCAA college programs made up the field. Individual players from several other Division I universities also participated in the event.
The Chaparrals finished in a T-5th place six strokes behind the tournament champion WSU Shockers. Midland College was the top finisher amonst the NJCAA colleges.
MC's Scott Spark was the top Chaparral, with a three-round score of one over par 217. Fellow Chaparral Harrison Sewell finished in a tie for 19th place with a 36-hole score of 218.

Midland College returns to the links, next week at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate Tournament in Las Cruces, NM. The Wimberly Invitational is hosted by New Mexico State University at the NMSU Golf Course (Par 71, 7424 Yards).
