SOFTBALL: Lady Chaps split in Odessa

ODESSA, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team split a Western Junior College Athletic Conference doubleheader against Odessa College on Saturday at the Wrangler Softball Complex

OC's Aydenne Brown threw a no-hitter in the first game for an 8-0 victory, before the Lady Chaparrals bounced back with a 5-3 victory in the second game as they scored two runs in the seventh inning.

Midland College (11-5, 6-4 in WJCAC) scored three runs in the fourth inning before OC (18-6, 7-3) rallied with three runs in the sixth to tie it up.

In the top of the seventh, Aliyah Lara had an RBI single and then Ciera Avila scored on one of five OC errors in the game.

Pearl Marquez got the win in relief after she allowed just one hit and two walks and struck out one over 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Brown finished with 10 strikeouts and one walk in the win for the Lady Wranglers.

Offensively, the Lady Wranglers had 10 hits and had a six-run fifth.

The Lady Chaps are off until April 9 when they host Howard College in a doubleheader.
