BORGER, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team won the first two games of the road series against Frank Phillips on Sunday with 13-5 and 11-3 victories in games that went five innings each.
In the first game, the Lady Chaparrals had 17 hits, led by Aliyah Lara, who was 4-for-4 with a double, home run, four RBI and three runs scored. Aaliyah Hunter, Victoria Ronderos, Tajanae Davis, Gisselle Dominguez, Ciera Avila and Makenzie Whiteley each added two hits. Dominguez also had a home run.
In the circle, Emily Maddux got the win in relief as she allowed just one run on one hit with six strikeouts.
The Lady Chaps (13-9, 8-8 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) then had 14 hits in the second game as Tajanae Davis was 3-for-4 with a double home run and four RBI. Ronderos was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored; while Dominguez had two hits.
Maddux again got the win as she allowed three runs on three hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
MC and Frank Phillips meet in another doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Monday.
