SOFTBALL: Lady Chaps split opening games of the season
The Midland College softball team split its first two games to open the season on Friday.

BEEVILLE, TEXAS – The Midland College softball team split its first two games to open the season on Friday.
The Lady Chaparrals defeated Coastal Bend Community College, 12-3, before losing 15-6 to Alvin Community College.
Against Coastal Bend, Zoey De Baca had a home run two hits and drove in four runs to lead MC. Tajanae Davis had a team-high three hits and Gisselle Dominguez had two hits. Aaliyah Hunter added a double and two RBI for the Lady Chaps.
MC finished with 11 hits and took advantage of seven Coastal Bend errors.
Alvin scored eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to run-rule the Lady Chaps in six innings.
Alvin also had 14 hits in the game and MC committed five errors.
De Baca drove in three runs for MC and Emily Maddux had five strikeouts in the circle.
The Lady Chaps will play these two teams again on Saturday as they will face Alvin at 2 p.m., and then Coastal Bend at 4:30 p.m.
