BEEVILLE, TEXAS – The Midland College softball team won a pair of non-conference games on Saturday.
The Lady Chaparrals defeated Alvin Community College, 6-4, and then came from behind for an 8-7 victory over Coastal Bend Community College.
The Lady Chaps (3-1) had 12 hits in the game and a had a three-run top of the sixth innings to break a 3-3 tie against Alvin, which beat MC on Friday.
Zoey De Baca was 4-for-4 with a double for MC, Lauren De La Cruz was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, and Ciera Avila was 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and a run scored.
De Baca also got the win in the circle after she allowed one run on four hits, with one strikeout and one walk over 4 2/3 innings.
Against Coastal Bend, MC was down 7-5 before it scored three runs in the top of the seventh.
The Lady Chaps had 14 hits and were led by Aaliyah Hunter, who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. De Baca had two hits and two RBI, while Aliyah Lara, De La Cruz and Ciera Avila also had two hits.
Lucy Carney got the win in relief.
The Lady Chaps next play a doubleheader at Ranger College at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
