RANGER, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team swept Ranger College in a doubleheader that was pushed up to Tuesday because of the expected bad weather on Wednesday.
The Lady Chaparrals defeated Ranger 8-5 and 11-3 to improve to 5-1 on the season.
In the first game, it was tied 4-all through four innings, before MC took the lead for good with a three-run top of the fifth.
Zoey De Baca was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Ciera Avila had a home run and drove in three runs, Tajanae Davis added two hits and Micalynn Nacnac added two RBI.
Samantha Rodriguez got the win in relief.
MC scored four runs in the third and three in the fourth to put the second game away.
The Lady Chaps had 12 hits and were led by Lauren De La Cruz, who was 3-for-3 with a home run, walk, two RBI and two runs scored. Davis was 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored; De Baca was 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and three runs scored; and Jasmine Garcia had a double and three RBI.
Emily Maddux got the win after she allowed three runs on seven hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts.
The Lady Chaps next play a doubleheader at Sul Ross University at 1 p.m. Monday.
