SOFTBALL: Lady Chaps Softball Opens Home Slate Versus Coastal Bend College
The Midland College softball team will open the home portion of the 2022 schedule with a four-game weekend series versus the Coastal Bend College Cougars.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team will open the home portion of the 2022 schedule with a four-game weekend series versus the Coastal Bend College Cougars. The Lady Chaps are currently 6-2 on the season after splitting a Monday double-header at Alpine, Texas versus Sul Ross State. The Chaps lost game one against SRSU in the bottom of the 7th inning, 7-6, but forcefully responded by defeating the Lobos 14-3 in the second game.
MC will take on CBC on Friday, February 11th in a 1:00 p.m. double-header at Lady Chaps Field on the Midland College campus. Then on Saturday, February 12th the same two teams will play a twin bill at Lady Chaps field with games scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The Lady Chaps previously played Coastal Bend on January 28th and 29th at Beeville, Texas and recorded wins by scores of 12-3 and 8-7.
The Lady Chaps are led this year by a solid group of third-year "COVID sophomores" returnees including: Tajanae Davis and Aaliyah Hunter and Emily Maddux. Additionally a talented core of second year freshmen and first year freshmen are making significant contributions to the team's early season success.

Head coach Angelica Castro is entering her second season at the helm of the Lady Chaps, along with assistant coach Aubree Avila Oropeza. Castro coached at Coastal Bend College prior to arriving to MC mid-year, last year.
