MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team swept a home doubleheader against Coastal Bend College on Saturday, winning 14-2 and 10-5.
The Lady Chaparrals (9-3) took three of four games from Coastal Bend over the weekend.
Lauren De La Cruz led MC in the first game by going 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, five RBI and two runs scored. Gissell Dominguez was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored; Zoey De Baca was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored; while Chanel Esparza and Victoria Perez each added two hits.
Lucy Carney got the win in the circle after she allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks and four strikeouts over five complete innings.
In the second game, MC had a five-run fifth inning while De Baca homered and drove in three runs. De Baca also had two hits along with Ciera Avila, De La Cruz, and Jana Bradshaw, who also had a double and two RBI. Avila also had a double and a home run.
Emily Maddux got the win in the circle.
MC next hosts Ranger College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team split a home doubleheader against Coastal Bend College, winning the first game 19-3 and losing the second game 11-3.
In the first game, Tajanae Davis led the MC offense by going 4-for-4 with four home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored. Giselle Dominguez was 4-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored; Zoey De Baca was 2-for-3 with a double and four runs scored; Ciera Avila was 2-for-3 with two runs scored; Chanel Esparza had a home run and three RBI; and Kaitlyn Gonzales added a triple.
MC had 15 hits in the game and a had 10-run fourth inning.
Emily Maddux got the complete game victory in the circle as she allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits, one walk and she struck out five over five innings.
The teams combined for 11 errors in the second game and Coastal Bend scored seven unanswered runs to beat the Lady Chaps (7-3).
Davis had another good game for MC as she went 2-for-4 with a double, home runs and three RBI.
Zoey De Baca took the loss for MC, which allowed just three earned runs in the game.
The teams will play another doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Midland College softball field.
