SOFTBALL: Lady Chaps sweep Trinidad State
The Midland College softball team swept a home doubleheader against Trinidad State Junior College on Saturday with 10-8 and 6-2 victories.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team swept a home doubleheader against Trinidad State Junior College on Saturday with 10-8 and 6-2 victories.
In the first game, the teams were tied 8-all after Trinidad scored four runs in the top of the sixth. MC (13-3) then answered with a pair of runs in bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good.
For the Lady Chaparrals, Lauren De La Cruz was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI; Tajanae Davis was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and three runs scored; Gisselle Dominguez was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored; Ciera Avila was 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two runs scored; and Zoey De Baca was 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and a run scored.
Lucy Carney picked up the win in relief.
Chanel Ezparza led MC in the second game by going 2-for-3 with a double, home run, three RBI and two runs scored. De Baca was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI; while Isabella Slape and Jasmine Garcia each added two hits.
Samantha Rodriguez got the win in the circle after she allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts over seven innings of work.
MC is next scheduled to play in the Cisco College Round Robin Tournament beginning on Friday with games against Lamar Community College and Northeast Texas CC.
