SOFTBALL: Lady Chaps sweep Sul Ross
The Midland College softball team swept a home doubleheader on Wednesday against Sul Ross State University with 12-2 and 10-8 victories.

MIDLAND, TEXAS -The Midland College softball team swept a home doubleheader on Wednesday against Sul Ross State University with 12-2 and 10-8 victories.
In the first game, Zoey De Baca was 2-for-3 with a home run, walk, five RBI and two runs scored for the Lady Chaparrals (15-3). Lauren De La Cruz was 2-for-3 with a double, home run, walk, RBI and a run scored; Gisselle Dominguez was 2-for-3 with double, three RBI and a run scored; Tajanae Davis was 2-for-3; and Aaliyah Hunter scored three runs.
Emily Maddux got the win in the circle after she allowed two unearned runs on five hits, walked one and struck out eight over five innings.
MC had a six-run fifth inning and then held off Sul Ross for the win in the second game.
The Lady Chaps led 7-0 before SRSU rallied for six runs in the top of the sixth. MC responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
MC also had to overcome six errors.
Dominguez was 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored to lead the Lady Chaps. De Baca was 3-for-3; Kaitlyn Gonzalez was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored; Tajanae Davis homered, had three RBI and scored two runs; and Angelic Gonzalez homered and drove in three runs.
Lucy Carney got the win after she allowed six unearned runs on eight hits and also struck out three.
MC next played a doubleheader at Concordia University beginning at 3:30 p.m. on March 9.
