SOFTBALL: Lady Chaps win one, tie one with Kilgore College
The Midland College softball team rolled to a 10-1 victory over Kilgore College and then ended up in a 10-10 tie in the second game after it was halted because of bad weather on Friday afternoon.

KILGORE, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team rolled to a 10-1 victory over Kilgore College and then ended up in a 10-10 tie in the second game after it was halted because of bad weather on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Chaparrals (16-5-1) out-hit Kilgore 15-3 in the first game and were led by Ciera Avila, who was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored. Gisselle Dominguez was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a run scored; Chanel Esparza had two hits and two RBI; Aaliyah Hunter had two hits and scored two runs; and Jasmine Garcia had a double, RBI and a run scored.
Emily Maddux got the win after she allowed one run on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Kilgore was batting in the bottom of the seventh when the second game was called.
Kilgore out-hit MC 12-9 but also committed six errors in the game.
The Lady Chaps had a five-run top of the fifth to take a 7-4 lead before KC responded with a 3-run bottom of the fifth tie it. The teams would go back and forth in the final two innings.
Lauren De La Cruz was 2-for-2 with a home run, walk and five RBI to lead MC. Tajanae Davis added two hits with a solo home run; while Avila added two hits and a walk.
The Lady Chaps next play a home doubleheader against Luna Community College beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
