SOFTBALL: Howard completes sweep of Lady Chaps
The Howard College softball team took both games of a doubleheader against Midland College on Saturday at Foundation Field to complete a four-game sweep.

BIG SPRING, TEXAS - The Howard College softball team took both games of a doubleheader against Midland College on Saturday at Foundation Field to complete a four-game sweep.
The Hawks rolled to a 10-2 win in the first game and then won 11-5 in the series finale.
The Lady Chaparrals (21-12-1, 2-6 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) were held to four hits in the first game by Howard starting pitcher Jorja Barrett.
Tajanae Davis had a solo home run for MC.
Howard (24-8, 9-3) had 12 hits as Sasha Willems drove in three runs, while Samantha Cervantes had a home run for one of her two hits. Madison Dingman added two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
MC jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first in the second game but HC answered with seven unanswered runs over the next three innings.
Aliyah Lara led MC by going 3-for-4; Lauren De La Cruz was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI; and Gisselle Dominguez was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Olivia Kuzminski led Howard by going 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored from the leadoff spot. Addison Marquez was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored.
Alicia Estrada got the win for the Hawks. Emily Maddux took the loss for MC.
The Lady Chaps next host El Paso Community College in a four-game series beginning with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday.

MIDLAND, TEXAS -
Howard College swept a doubleheader against rival Midland College with 11-3, 8-4 victories at Lady Chaps Field on Friday afternoon.
The Hawks hit five home runs against MC in the first game as Olivia Kuzminski, Madison Dingman, Olivia Vargas and Samantha Cervantes all went yard.
All three of the Lady Chap runs came by the home run as Gisselle Dominguez, Lauren De La Cruz and Tajanae Davis hit solo shots. De La Garza had three of the five hits for MC (21-10-1, 2-4 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) in the game.
Jorja Barrett got the win for HC and had nine strikeouts and walked just one.
Emily Maddux took the loss for MC.
Howard (22-8, 7-3) out-hit MC 15-5 in the second game and rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the first inning thanks in part to three runs in the third and four runs in the fifth.
Sasha Willems hit a home run and drove in five runs for the Hawks. Kamryn Cottrell and Addison Marquez also hit home runs for HC, while Dingman had three hits.
Dominguez led MC by going 2-for-3, De La Cruz hit a three-run home run and Davis had a solo shot.
Alicia Estrada got the win for Howard.
The teams will meet in another doubleheader at Big Spring's Foundation Field at 1 p.m. Saturday.
