SOFTBALL: Lady Chaps roll to DH sweep
The Midland College softball team had no trouble in a doubleheader sweep of El Paso Community College on Friday, winning 13-3 and 16-1 at Lady Chaps Field.

MIDLAND, TEXAS -The Midland College softball team had no trouble in a doubleheader sweep of El Paso Community College on Friday, winning 13-3 and 16-1 at Lady Chaps Field.
MC (23-12-1, 4-6 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) out-hit EPCC 12-3 and overcame a 3-1 deficit by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth and seven more in the fifth for the run-rule victory.
Lauren De La Cruz led the Lady Chaparral offense by going 2-for-3 with two home runs and six RBI. Jana Bradshaw was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, four RBI and two runs scored; Ciera Avila was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run; and Zoey De Baca was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
Emily Maddux got the win in the circle after she gave up three unearned runs on three hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
The Lady Chaps used a nine-run first inning to run-rule the Tejanas (10-20, 2-12) in the second game.
MC out-hit EPCC 13-3 as five Lady Chaps had multiple hits. De Baca was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored; De La Cruz homered, walked twice and drove in four runs; Gisselle Dominguez was 2-for-3 with a double, home run, walk and two runs scored; Ciera Avila was 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI; Jana Bradshaw was 2-for-3 with a walk; Jasmine Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, RBI and two runs scored; and Tajanae Davis homered, had two RBI, a walk and scored twice.
De Baca got the win in the circle.
The teams meet in another doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.
