MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Midland College softball team split a doubleheader against Clarendon College on Friday at Lady Chaps Field.
MC rolled to a 12-3 victory in the first game but then got outslugged in the second game in a 16-10 loss.
The Lady Chaparrals (26-13-1, 7-7 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) only had seven hits and took advantage of four errors to blow out Clarendon (16-20, 10-8) in the first game, which lasted five innings.
MC scored all of its runs in the second inning as MC had five hits, a hit by pitch, drew three walks and took advantage of three errors in the frame.
Pitcher Emily Maddux allowed three runs on just two hits and five walks, and also struck out 11 for the win.
Jana Bradshaw had a double and drove in three runs; Tajanae Davis had a triple, two RBI and two runs scored; Aliyah Lara had a double, two RBI and two runs scored; and Aaliyah Hunter was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for MC.
In the second game, Clarendon came back from a 10-8 deficit with eight runs in the top of the sixth.
The Lady Bulldogs out-hit MC 13-11 and took advantage of six MC errors.
Zoey De Baca was 2-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and a run scored to lead MC; Hunter was 3-for-4 with four runs scored; Bradshaw was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored; and Lauren De La Cruz drove in two runs.
The teams will meet in another doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.
