SOFTBALL: Friday is 'Sophomore Day' for Lady Chaps
he Midland College Lady Chaps softball team will finish the regular season this weekend versus WJCAC leader and nationally-ranked Odessa College. On Friday the Lady Chaps will host OC at Lady Chaps Field in a double-header, and the final home games in the MC softball careers for several members of the team.

MIDLAND/ODESSA, TEXAS - The Midland College Lady Chaps softball team will finish the regular season this weekend versus WJCAC leader and nationally-ranked Odessa College. On Friday the Lady Chaps will host OC at Lady Chaps Field in a double-header (1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.) followed by two games on the Odessa College campus on Saturday (also at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.).
This season the Lady Chaps have a record of 30-15-1, including 11-9 in the WJCAC. The series versus Odessa College will be the most significant test faced by the Lady Chaps in 2022.
Friday's double-header will be the final home games in the MC softball careers for several members of the team. Sophomores Aaliyah Cobos-Hunter, Emily Maddux and Tajanae Davis along with freshmen Gisselle Dominguez and Aliyah Lara will be playing in their final home games after surviving the COVID-19 pandemic and going without a coach during the fall semester of 2020. Sophomore student-trainer Grace Price will also be recognized on Friday.

Following the weekend's games the MC softball team will advance to the NJCAA Region 5 West Softball Tournament (May 13-15) in Lubbock, Texas. MC will be the #3 seed in the Region 5 West Tournament. Game times and pairings to be determined.
