Midland College Softball Goes 2-2 in Brownwood Crossover, 15-4 overall

The Midland College softball faced, arguably, their stiffest competition of the season at the Brownwood Crossover Tournament hosted by Cisco College. After four games at the Tournament and a total of six games in four days, Midland College racked up highway miles, back to back games and cold weather to go 3-3 last week including 2-2 in the Crossover Tournament. Midland College is currently 15-4 this season.
On Friday the Lady Chaps faced Hill College and #5 ranked Grayson College. Midland College defeated the Hill College Rebels, 8-2, and lost a hotly contested game to the Grayson College Vikings 6-5. Versus Hill College Midland College was led by Madyson Bradley who went 2-2 with a homerun and by Madison Stewart who went 2-4 with a homerun and three RBI. Katelynn Perez recorded the win, including striking out six Hill batters.
In the Grayson College game, Midland College received strong performances by Stewart who went 2-4, Jayci Johnson who went 2-3 and freshman pitcher Emma Lovato who struck out 10 Vikings. Midland College's Marina Litterio posted a homerun and three RBI versus Grayson.
Saturday the Lady Chaps braved the cold weather to defeat Western Nebraska Community College, 10-3. MC's Litterio went 2-5 with a homerun and four RBI versus the Cougars, followed by Jalyn Montes who went 3-4 at the plate with three RBI and two stolen bases in the game. Perez again picked up the win, fanning 14 Western Nebraska batters.
Versus Temple College, Lady Chaps sophomore outfielder Jordyn Westenskow went 2-2 with HR and two RBI in the 5-2 loss to the Leopards. MC's Lovato struck out 11 Temple batters in the contest.
After a well-deserved break from competitions, Midland College is scheduled to return to the diamond on Saturday, March 2nd in a noon double-header versus Cisco College at Lady Chaps Field on the Midland College campus.
