BASKETBALL: Lady Chaps Host Modified WNIT

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The unbeaten Lady Chaps basketball team welcomes four competing teams to the confines of the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center for a smaller version of the annual National Invitation Tournament. In its typical form, the MC WNIT brings together eight of the top NJCAA women's basketball teams for three days (12 games) of intense tournament competition. However this year, on the heels of pandemic-related adjustments, this year's event will feature a modified schedule of two games per day over three days.
On Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Odessa College opens WNIT play when they take on Hill College followed by Trinity Valley Community College versus the host Lady Chaps in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Midland College is undefeated at 5-0 headed into Thursday's games. The remainder of the weekend's schedule is below.
Midland College's balanced offense is led by a trio of sophomores: Bella Green leads the Lady Chaps with 14.2 points per contest, followed by Makayla Escue's 11.6 and Dana Thompson's 10.2 ppg. Green is also the teams leading rebounder at 12.8 per game followed by Thompson's 9.0 and Escue's 5.0 over the first five games of 2021.
