BASKETBALL: Lady Chaps move into sole possession of 1st place
The Midland College women’s basketball team moved into sole possession of first place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference after rolling past Howard College with a 79-42 victory, Thursday at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.

BIG SPRING, TEXAS - The Midland College women's basketball team moved into sole possession of first place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference after rolling past Howard College with a 79-42 victory, Thursday at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.
The Lady Chaps (16-4, 7-1) now sit a half game ahead of South Plains College (12-6, 6-1), which was idle.
Makayla Escue led MC with 19 points; Bella Green had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Dana Thompson just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Marin Lenz, Kim Schrama and Nikki Sainsbury also scored 10 points each for the Lady Chaps, who climbed to a 40-22 halftime lead over the Lady Hawks (7-14, 0-8).
MC out-rebounded Howard by a lopsided 49-16 margin.
Daysha Tijerina led the Lady Hawks with 14.
The Lady Chaps host Frank Phillips College at 5:45 p.m. Monday.
