New Mexico Junior College snapped Midland College’s eight-game winning streak with a 67-56 victory during Saturday’s rescheduled Western Junior College Athletic Conference women’s basketball game.

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - New Mexico Junior College snapped Midland College's eight-game winning streak with a 67-56 victory during Saturday's rescheduled Western Junior College Athletic Conference women's basketball game.
The game was originally scheduled for Thursday but pushed back a day due to inclement weather and delayed another day because of a lack of officials.
The Lady Chaps (17-5, 8-2) fell out of first place with the defeat, dropping behind South Plains College (13-6, 7-1) in the loss column.
The Lady Thunderbirds (20-3, 7-2) controlled the game from the start, heading into the half with a 37-19 lead. MC cut its deficit to 49-40 after outscoring New Mexico JC, 21-12, in the third quarter but couldn't carry the momentum into the final period.
Bella Green scored a game-high 19 points and added eight rebounds for the Lady Chaps, followed by 11 from Brooke Galvin.
New Mexico JC's Delma Zita had team highs with 14 points, 7 assists and eight steals, while teammate Precious Cowan scored 12.
The Lady T-Birds had 20 steals and committed 14 turnovers compared to 24 turnovers by MC.
The Lady Chaps will have a quick turnaround when they host Clarendon College (19-6, 4-5) at 5:45 p.m. Monday.
