BASKETBALL: Lady Chaps move into 1st after WTC win
The Midland College women’s basketball team used an 18-9 run in the second quarter to spark a 68-43 victory over Western Texas College on Thursday night.

SNYDER, TEXAS - The Midland College women's basketball team used an 18-9 run in the second quarter to spark a 68-43 victory over Western Texas College on Thursday night.
Western Texas (11-13, 5-7 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference) had a 10-9 lead after the opening period but the Lady Chaparrals (19-15, 10-2) took a 27-19 lead at the half and extended it to 52-32 after three quarters.
Brooke Galvin had a game-high 19 points for MC, Dana Thompson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Bella Green added 13 points for the Lady Chaps, who won their second straight and 10 out of their last 11.
The Lady Chaps also moved into first place in the WJCAC after New Mexico Junior College defeated South Plains College, 52-46, on Thursday.
Shalance Montoya led WTC with 18 points and Maya Crimes added 14. The Lady Westerners were held to 31.6% shooting for the game, including 1-for-17 from 3-point range.
The Lady Chaps will next host rival Odessa College at 5:45 p.m. Monday at Chaparral Center.
