In the final home game of their Midland College careers, the seven departing members of the Lady Chaps basketball team went out with a 72-60 over WJCAC rival Odessa College.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - In the final home game of their Midland College careers, the seven departing members of the Lady Chaps basketball team went out with a 72-60 over WJCAC rival Odessa College. Teanna Huggins (San Antonio), Makayla Escue (Levelland), Bella Green (Perth, Australia), Dana Thompson (Miami, FL), Brooke Galvin (Tuscola), Kim Schrama (Leiderdorp, The Netherlands) and Madison Batten (Shallowater) each played in their final game at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center and in the process, maintained a slim ½ game lead in the conference standings with one game remaining in the regular season. New Mexico Junior College trails the Lady Chaps in the most recent standings.
Midland College, ranked 21st in the most recent NJCAA Women's DI poll, has a season record of 20-5 and sits at 11-2 in the WJCAC. The Lady Chaps have qualified for the 2022 NJCAA Region 5 Basketball Tournament but before that happens the team will have to travel for to Levelland, Texas for a season finale on Thursday, February 24th versus South Plains College. The SPC Texans are currently in 3rd place in conference with an 8-3 record and three WJCAC games left to play. The Lady Chaps defeated SPC on January 24th at the Chaparral Center by a score of 69-61 in overtime.
With an MC win at South Plains College or a loss by second place New Mexico Junior College, the Lady Chaps will win the 2022 conference championship and a #1 seed in the Region 5 Basketball Tournament on March 2nd through 5th at Frenship High School in Wolfforth, Texas.
