BASKETBALL: Lady Chaps drop first WJCAC game
The Midland College women’s basketball game struggled on the offensive end in two of the quarters against No. 11-ranked New Mexico Junior College as the Lady Chaparrals suffered their first lost in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play, 68-49, in Hobbs, New Mexico, on Thursday night.

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - The Midland College women's basketball game struggled on the offensive end in two of the quarters against No. 11-ranked New Mexico Junior College as the Lady Chaparrals suffered their first lost in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play, 68-49, in Hobbs, New Mexico, on Thursday night.
The Lady Chaparrals (7-10, 2-1 in WJCAC) were held to a combined 17 points in the second and third quarters, which allowed the Lady Thunderbirds (13-2, 2-0) to extend the lead.
NMJC had a 39-25 halftime lead after only leading 17-15 after the opening period.
The Lady Chaps were held to 29.8% shooting and turned the ball over 23 times.
Luisa Anderegg led MC with 14 points to go with nine rebounds, while Janay Quinn added 13 points.
Three Lady T-Birds were in double figures, led by Delma Zita with 18 points, Madina Camara had 16, and Bianca Juzzo added 10.
MC next hosts Clarendon College at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
