VOLLEYBALL: Lady Chaps Best Odessa College, Secure #2 Seed in Region Tourney
Going into Saturday’s final regular season match the Lady Chaps volleyball team knew the task at hand. Needing a victory to secure the second seed in the upcoming Region 5 West Tournament, including a first round bye, was at the forefront of the team’s thinking.

MIDLAND, TEXAS - Going into Saturday's final regular season match the Lady Chaps volleyball team knew the task at hand. Needing a victory to secure the second seed in the upcoming Region 5 West Tournament, including a first round bye, was at the forefront of the team's thinking. Midland College, 17-7 overall and 9-3 in the WJCAC, played inspired volleyball to earn a match sweep 25-22, 25-18, 25-23 over Permian Basin rival Odessa College.

Saturday's Lady Chaps win avenged a tough, five-set loss at Odessa College on October 6th in Odessa. It also gave a proper send-off to five members of the Midland College team who were playing in their final home match of their MC careers. Sophomores Karina Salinas, Lucie Maceckova, Tori Lasley, Macarena Flores and Romina Vacca as well as sophomore student-trainer, Grace Williams, were each presented with a commemorative gift in appreciation of their contributions to the team this season. The ceremony was held just prior to the start of the 2:00 p.m. match.
With the win the Lady Chaps advance to the NJCAA Region 5 West Volleyball Tournament on November 5-6, 2021 at Odessa, Texas. The Region 5 West Tournament field includes all six WJCAC member teams in a two-day, single-elimination tournament. The Region 5 West Champion advances to the 2021 NJCAA Division I Volleyball Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas (November 18th-20th).
