MIDLAND, TEXAS -The Midland College volleyball team will return to the hard wood for this weekend's New Mexico Junior College Classic. The NMJC Classic will be held in Hobbs, NM and hosted by WJCAC member New Mexico Junior College. Competing teams include Blinn College, Navarro College, Otero Junior College, Trinidad State College Trinity Valley Community College, Tyler Junior College, Victoria College, as well as, the Lady Chaps and the tournament host, New Mexico Junior College.
The Lady Chaps are currently 4-4 on the season and will use the weekend to solidify their chemistry on the court after a week off from competition. Midland College expects strong performances from returnees Zoe Fernandez and Lindamara Conceicao who are averaging 2.81 and 1.75 kills per set respectively. Sophomore Julia Kabala leads the team with 160 total assists (5.71 per set) over eight matches. Defensively Miranda Acosta and Zoe Fernandez lead the squad with 98 and 47 total digs in 2022.
Midland College opens play in Hobbs on Friday versus Blinn College and Otero Junior College at noon and 3:00 p.m. On Saturday the Lady Chaps will take on Tyler Junior College and Trinidad State College at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Following the weekend in Hobbs, the Lady Chaps will open WJCAC play on Wednesday, September 14th @ 6:00 p.m. versus Clarendon College at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center on the Midland College campus.
