MIDLAND, TEXAS - The MC volleyball team began the second half of conference with a resounding match sweep on Saturday at Clarendon College. The win improved the Lady Chaps to 13-7 overall and 6-2 in the WJCAC.
Midland College's next competition is a key conference match versus New Mexico Junior College on Wednesday, October 12th @ 6:00 p.m. at the Chaps Center. The Thunderbirds travel to Midland with a matching 6-2 WJCAC record, each tied for second place.
The Lady Chaps, with a win, could move into sole possession of second place in the conference standings. A MC win coupled with an Odessa College loss and the Lady Chaps would move into a first place tie with the Wranglers. Odessa College will host New Mexico Military Institute on Wednesday in Odessa.
Offensively the Lady Chaps are led by the sister tandem of Zoe Fernandez and Petra Fernandez with 215 total kills (3.03 kills per set) and 174 total kills (3.05 kills per set) thus far into the season. Midland's Julia Kabala leads the team with 432 total assists (6.00 assists per set). Defensively MC is led by Miranda Acosta's 253 total digs (3.51 per set) and Lindamara Conceicao's 94 total blocks (1.31 per set).
