VOLLEYBALL: Lady Chaps lose in regional semifinals

ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO - The season for the Midland College volleyball team came to an end with a five-set loss to No. 10-ranked New Mexico Junior College in the NJCAA Region V West Tournament at Cahoon Armory on Saturday.

NMJC recovered from losing the first set for a 12-25, 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8 victory over the Lady Chaparrals.

MC ends its season at 17-11.

Zoe Fernandez led MC with double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs, Laura Milori had 12 kills and 14 digs, Petra Fernandez had 15 kills, Miranda Acosta added 14 digs, Julia Kabala had 27 assists, and Ana Zink chipped in with 20 assists.

MC advanced on Friday with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-21 victory over Frank Phillips College. Zoe Fernandez had 12 kills, Petra Fernandez had 16 digs, and Kabala added 22 assists.
