Midland College Volleyball Opens the Season at 2-2 in Kick-Off Classic

Headed into the 2024 season, first-year head coach, Kristina Gafford sought to lead the team to improvement over the entirity of the season. In hosting the annual Kick-Off Classic, Gafford, without the benefit of an assistant coach recruited, trained, organized and coached her young team with an eye on steady progress over the season. After four matches, 2-2 on the season, there were a number of positives to point to going forward.
The Lady Chaps opened the season versus Lee College on Thursday evening, followed by a match versus North Central Texas College on Saturday. Then the Lady Chaps would face stiff contests versus #18 ranked Colby Community College (KS) and an always tough Panola College team; both on Saturday.
Midland College defeated Lee College and North Central Texas College, recording sweeps in both matches. Saturday's matches were competitive, with Midland College suffering defeats against Colby and Panola.
Gafford and the Lady Chaps travel to Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, KS to participate in the Victory Electric Classic. MC is scheduled to play Otero Junior College (CO, Eastern Arizona College, #17 Barton Community College (KS) and the host team, Dodge City CC on August 30th and 31st.
